And the 2023 Marching Band Show is…

Carley Shoop, Performing Arts and Feature Editor

The Marion Center Marching Band is entering their 74th consecutive season since its conception in 1949. The field show last year was a tribute to Danny Elfman, the famous film score. Though you may not know his name, you definitely know his work in movies such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Corpse Bride, Beetle Juice, Spiderman, Edward Scissor Hands, and many, many more. They played “Veruca Salt” from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, “Ice Dance” from Edward Scissorhands, and “This is Halloween”, from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The theme for the 2023 marching season is Night is Falling, with selections from One Direction, The Moody Blues, and Elton John. The opener will be “Night Changes” by One Direction, the ballad will be “Nights in White Satin” by the Moody Blues, and the closer will be “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fightin’)”. We are so excited for this show and everything that comes with it.

The parade song has also been chosen for the season and it will be “December 1963 (Oh What a Night” by Frank Valli and the Four Seasons. If you wish to join marching band this season, come down to room 110 and see Mr. Page for details and registration forms. If you wish to see any of our summer performances the schedule isĀ here.
