Most of us know that some of the classes in the tower are getting A/C. What about heating? With the temperature decreasing for fall and winter, some rooms still don’t have any heat.
Some rooms are either way too hot or still don’t even have heat and are freezing. I’ve been into some of these classes where I have to wear a hoodie all class period or I have to take it off but, why is this? Why are only some rooms getting heat while others have no heat? It could be a number of things. It could be the malfunction in the thermostat, or even the type of heating the rooms have, giving off too much heat or too little heat.
In some of the classes, the heating systems in the classes are old and way outdated. I’ve decided to look up a few units that were in different classes that I went into. In Ms. Kutsch’s room 213, the unit in there is a Nesbitt ventilation unit. The model in room 213 is a model from the 60’s! That is a model that is 62 years old! I have found that a lot of the rooms have a Nesbitt, some are the same model as the one from the 60’s, and others are slightly newer models.
The fact that some of the unit models are so old, should be a sign that we need new heating units. I understand that it will be expensive and the school is already going to be purchasing new A/C units, but I feel that with the cold seasons arriving, we should focus more on heating rather than A/C.
As of the 23rd of 2023, the temperature was a whopping 30 degrees in the morning and 55 degrees in the afternoon. It’s still very cold. The Spring equinox is in March, which is 5 months away from now.
With the fact that some of the unit models are outdated, the warm months don’t start until March, and we don’t need A/C until that point, In my opinion, I think we should get new heating units. What do you think?
