Ever since Covid-19 hit, schools stopped having educational field trips. Regardless of where you were going, class field trips were always something to look forward to. Most of us can still remember our elementary field trips to this day.
When Mr. Peterson was asked his thoughts on bringing back school field trips, he stated, “I think school field trips are very important within a high school setting. Since Covid, we have been able to bring back almost all of the school field trips, or what we could at least.” Most field trips now are taken due to clubs and organizations, but some students don’t have the opportunity to join these classes and take these trips.
One reason to bring field trips back is to provide students with hands-on experiences that help reinforce classroom learning. By seeing and engaging with subjects outside of the classroom, students can gain a deeper understanding of the studied topic. It allows them to apply their knowledge to real-world situations, enhancing their learning experience.
Undoubtedly, field trips offer a break from the routine of daily classroom activities, making learning more enjoyable and memorable for students. By taking them to new environments and exposing them to different cultures, museums, nature reserves, historical sites, and more, field trips can spark curiosity, making students more engaged and enthusiastic about learning.
School field trips also encourage interaction and collaboration among students. They provide an opportunity for students to develop important life skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. Interacting with peers and teachers outside of the school setting helps build stronger relationships and influences students to work on their personal skills.
Bringing back school field trips can be very beneficial to students, and increase their want to stay motivated in the classroom. It also gives them hands-on experience and life lessons they can apply to real-world situations.
