Senior Kari Miller and her family founded a group after her family member, Donald J. Benett to help raise money for Make-A-Wish. The Donald J. Bennett Run 4 A Wish group started this year’s Make-A-Wish in Punxsutawney with Punxsy Pizza. On their first day, they raised $29,400 towards Make-A-Wish kid’s wishes.
The Donald J. Bennett Run 4 A Wish group has raised money for Make-A-Wish for 14 years. Some of the ways they raise money are by hosting cash bashes, poker runs, car shows, and dances. In the 14 years, they’ve raised over 100 thousand dollars. Kari Miller said, “I want to help the kids get their wish.”
Make-A-Wish makes life-changing wishes possible for children battling with critical illness. Each wish costs about $5,000 and the program runs solely on donations. Wishes help change the odds for these children, wishes can bring them happiness in a time of hardships. 15 wishes will be given to children because of doners like the Donald J. Bennett Run 4 A Wish group. Make-A-Wish helps kids see the light in the darkness when it comes to critical illnesses. Kids batting illnesses like cancer or other critical illnesses, often just see hospitals and numbers, but Make-A-Wish can help make their biggest dreams come true and show them that they’re so much more than their illness.
Make-A-Wish grants wishes for kids older than 2 and a half and younger than 18. Wishes can change a child’s life, it can make them happier in times of harsh treatments. Families, groups and people can make that happen, it’s donations that can completely change a child’s life. And the Donald J. Bennett Run 4 A Wish group donation nearly $30,000 in one day can give about 5 kids their wish, and that’s on their first day of raising money.
