Before the last school year ended I had read a book “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover, and I’m here to give you my opinion on the book and its movie. Please remember while reading this, it is fully my opinion.
I had read the book first and the details of it were amazing. It was very well written, it made it easy to use imagery and fully understand what the book is talking about. In the book, the main character, Lily Bloom expresses her troubles and thoughts during an abusive and toxic relationship. Lily’s boyfriend, Ryle Kincaid expresses how he can’t control his anger and doesn’t know how to help it during their relationship. In the book, Lily’s ex-boyfriend, Atlas Corrigan comes into the story showing his worry and sympathy for Lily as he still loves and cares about her. The book goes into depth a lot about the struggles during Lily and Ryles’ relationship together. They tried to work everything out and make things better between them until Lily realized things could not get better. I loved how this book opened up on both of the character’s sides and showed what they were both going through trying to make their relationship work. This book also opened my eyes to see how quickly a relationship can turn on a couple and how even though you love a person it might not always work out. It also shows how when you’re in a bad and abusive relationship it is ok to get out of it, when it is for the better.
The movie was just as amazing as the book was in my opinion. When the movie was released I could tell it was going to be good but, I am always a little skeptical about movies after books because most of the time the books are better than the movies but this one really made me eat my words. This movie was absolutely amazing and I think the actors played the part amazingly. The movies followed the book completely and honestly took the imagery from my head and put it into a movie. I think this movie was just as good as the book was. I do know that some people didn’t like the actors as much and it didn’t fit peoples thoughts as much, but they definitely fit mine. Colleen Hoover definitely expanded my expectations for this movie. My overall impression and expectation of the book and movie together I have to give it a 10/10 because of how well the book and movie matched up. I also very much recommend the next book to it, “It Starts With Us.”
