To kick off this year’s music festivals, several junior and senior high school students took a bus to Purchase Line Jr. Sr. High School on November 6th. They had a full day of practicing their songs. The next day, November 7th, the students went back to Purchase Line High School, for a second day of rehearsals, and a concert in the evening.
The students at county band put a huge amount of effort into their rehearsal time, and it definitely paid off. Both of the concerts were a big success, as students were able to demonstrate what they had learned for their family and friends.
This year, a total of around thirty Marion Center Students participated in Indiana County Band. Overall, there were students from middle and high schools in Indiana County.
County band is made up of two separate ensembles, one featuring junior high students, and one made up of senior high students. Both ensembles performed numerous fun and exciting songs.
The students that participated in county band this year were able to play a variety of fun, exciting musical pieces. This year, both of the ensembles ended their concerts with a popular crowd pleaser song.
County band is a great opportunity for students to become better musicians and make new friends. The students that participated in county band this year were given a chance to experience music in a new way.
County band, as well as other music festivals and school sponsored events like Envirothon are exciting opportunities to take a break from the everyday school life and meet new people, demonstrate their skills and hard work, learn new things, and have the opportunity to participate in something bigger than themselves.
