Only seven more days of school before break! We’ve already talked about different types of Christmas cookies, but today we’ll be looking into some delicious, non-cookie Christmas desserts.
1. Candy Cane Pie
Candy cane pie is a no bake pie with cream cheese cheese filling, crushed candy canes or peppermint candy, and a delicious Oreo cookie crust. This would definitely be a simple but great addition to your holiday baking this year!
2. Pecan Tassies
Pecan tassies are mini bite sized tart like treats. They have a buttery crust filled with a caramel-pecan filling similar to what’s used in pecan pie. These are a treat sure to be enjoyed by many. In addition to that, pecan tassies would go perfectly on a tray of Christmas cookies.
3. Fruitcake
While fruitcake may not be the most popular Christmas dessert ever, it’s definitely a Christmas classic. Fruitcake is a dense cake full of fruits, nuts, and dates. Fruitcake is a sweet, traditional Christmas dessert.
4. Christmas Crack
You wanna talk about delicious? Well, Christmas crack qualifies for sure. The base is saltine crackers, topped with a layer of caramel and then chocolate. You can top it with toppings such as M&Ms, Christmas colored sprinkles, or nuts such as pecans. This is another simple but delicious recipe to try this holiday season.
5. Christmas Snow Salad
This is a colorful Christmas Jello-salad. It’s made of gelatin and powdered sugar filled with red jello and pineapple. You can top it off with red and green maraschino cherries and nuts such as pecan and walnuts. This colorful recipe is sure to be enjoyed by people of all ages, especially kids.
6. Old Fashioned Gingerbread
Old fashioned gingerbread is very different from the crunchy, frosted gingerbread cookies we enjoy today. For one, it’s much more like a slice of cake. It can be enjoyed with whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or dusted in powdered sugar.
7. Buche de Noel (Yule Log Cake)
I’d say this qualifies as another well known Christmas classic. Yule log cakes are sponge cakes filled with mascarpone and whipped cream. You can cover the top with chocolate ganache. Yule log cakes are a great one to get creative with while decorating.
I hope this gave you some new ideas for new desserts to try baking this Christmas. Have some fun making yummy Christmas desserts with your family and friends!
