Can you believe there’s only two more days till break? Today we’re going to be looking into two Christmas books. One is a very well known classic, while the other is a favorite in my family.
1. A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is probably the most well known Christmas book of all time. It has been adapted into countless animated and live-action movies. The story is even featured in well known shows like Mickey Mouse and Veggietales. In the book, Scrooge, a Christmas hater who’s as far away from jolly as you possibly can be, takes a trip through time in a dream. Accompanied by ghosts, he visits his Christmas past, present and future. By the end of the book, he is a changed man.
2. Christmas with Ida Early
Christmas with Ida Early is a book by Robert Busch. It’s part of a two book series. Christmas with Ida Early is a fun-filled book that people of all ages can enjoy. While it’s not as much of a Christmas classic as A Christmas Carol, it’s still a great book with amazing characters. Ida Early is a young woman who has come to stay with a family whose mother has died. She looks after the kids, cooks, and takes care of housekeeping such as cleaning. She’s not the typical nanny though. For one, she’s “world famous” at just about everything and she has outstanding throwing skills. Things get wild though, when the kids’ “proper” aunt shows up. She despises Ida Early. Will things work out? Will Ida Early have to leave? Read Christmas with Ida Early to find out. It will get the whole family laughing.
