Marion Center’s performing arts students have worked very hard all year long, in order to prepare for the upcoming spring concerts.
On April 30th at 7:00, the junior high band students will kick off this year’s spring concerts. They will be performing four songs: “March of the Chinchillas” by Kevin Paul, “After the Rain” by Matt Neufeld, “Night Fury” by Carol Britten Chambers, and “Irish Jig for Young Feet” by Travis J. Weller.
Following the junior high band’s performance, the senior high band will take to the stage and play their program.
After the senior high band’s performance, the jazz band will perform their concert. They will be playing a variety of pieces, including, “In the Mood”, “Cheesecake”, and “Birdland.”
Many of the students who will be performing on April 30th have taken part in different band festivals over the course of the 2024-2025 school year. Some of these festivals include County Band, District Band, and District Jazz. Shout out to Charlie Marshall who made it all the way to All-Eastern Band this year!
The second spring concert, which is the choir concert, will take place on May 7th at 7:00 pm. Once again, the junior high students will kick off the night. They will be singing a variety of songs, including “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride” from the popular Disney movie Lilo and Stitch, “Any Dream Will Do” for the Broadway musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat, and “Simple Gifts”, and old shaker hymn.
Then, the senior high choir will perform the pieces they have been working on for the concert.
To wrap up the night, the junior high choir will join the senior high choir for a special combined number, “Give us Hope” by Jim Papoulis.
Similarly to the band students, many of the choir students have attended choir festivals throughout the year, such as Country Choir and District Choir.
A special thank you to the performing arts teachers who have worked hard this year to help these students prepare for these upcoming concerts!
We hope that you will come out on April 30th and May 7th to support these students who have worked hard to prepare these concerts. They will take place in the auditorium. There will be no entrance fee.
