On Wednesday, February 15th, a large number of Marion Center High School’s ninth grade students went to Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC) for their annual shadow day. The programs available for MC students to shadow include: Auto Tech, Carpentry, Collision Repair, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Health Occupations, HVAC, Machining Technology, Masonry, Welding, Digital Communications, Graphics, Electrical Media, and Info Tech Systems. A 9th grader that shadowed there has stated, “Why I want to go back to ICTC is because when I shadowed there it was fun and exciting. I learned a lot in a little amount of time.” – Skye Bugay

Many students have walked into high school not knowing what the rest of their lives would look like. ICTC has given students an idea of what their futures may hold.

Mrs Horwat, our school’s guidance counselor for grades 9th and 10th, went with the students on this exciting journey. She supports the Marion Center students through this next chapter in their lives. She stated “ICTC offers great programs that enable our students to graduate high school with hands-on skills.  They are prepared to go on to further education and training, or join the workforce with employable skills.”

There are many students that are from Marion Center Area High School that go to ICTC every year. Many are graduating and many are going back next year. Sierra Reinard, a 2 year student at ICTC expresses her joy during her time there. “I love attending ICTC, it has helped me with my nursing career and healthcare responsibility. ICTC is a great opportunity to be able to explore future careers.”-Sierra.
