The Marion Center Stingrays made a big splash this week at the PIAA District 6  Swimming and Diving Championships. After a long season of racing, Marion Center had over half of the team qualify, in hopes of District Champion titles and state qualifying times. And as the tradition continues, the Stingrays will be making another appearance at the State Championship.

Nicole Scott qualified in the 200m Individual Medley and improved her school record by over 2 seconds. Other victories included:

Alek Vaglia also made a big wave, breaking a school record in the 50m Free that was set in 1981. Alek’s time of 22.8 seconds will replace the old record of 23.1 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 100m Backstroke.

The boy’s 400m Free Relay team of Issac Reaugh, A.J. Lynn, Alek Vaglia, and Paul Smith also had a podium finish, finishing 3rd in the District. A.J. Lynn told the Stinger News “I had a great time and I’m proud of the team for performing well.”

If you see any of these students or their coaches make sure to tell them congratulations and wish them luck at states!

Go Stingrays!
