Introduction to Mr. Moore

Meet Our New Chemistry Teacher

Introduction to Mr. Moore

Carley Shoop, Performing Arts and Feature Editor

After months, Chemistry students finally have a teacher. Mr. Jerrod Moore stepped in and we would like to take this time to get to know him.

Mr. Moore went to high school at Northern Cambria and graduated from IUP in 2007. He had a long journey to get back here, teaching in Japan, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia before moving back to Pennsylvania during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Mr. Moore says he moved back because he loves the schools in this area and thinks they are some of the best.

When asked why he first wanted to become a chemistry teacher, he responded by saying he knew on the first day of kindergarten that he wanted to be a teacher. After taking his first chemistry class in his sophomore year, he knew that was the subject for him. The thought of seeing the invisible and understanding what we can’t see captivated him, and guided him to teach chemistry.

Chemistry students have had a very difficult few months, but things are definitely looking up. Mr. Moore is very qualified and helpful, keeping his classroom a positive environment. He wants his students to know he is very open and willing to answer any questions anyone has for him. We are so excited to see how the rest of the year goes, as well as future chemistry classes. Let’s give Mr. Moore a warm welcome to Marion Center!
