Barbie-You Can Be Anything!

March 9th was National Barbie day.

In 1959 an 11-inch tall bombshell made her debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York. Barbie was created to allow girls to imagine what their lives could be like in the future. She is considered a good role model and an influencer. She’s been an inspiration to the young girls who grew up playing them and still is today.

When would you think everything a plastic doll with fake hair coming out of his head would become such an inspiration to little kids today? Well, it has. One of the positive impacts she had made was, building social and emotional processing social skills like empathy.

Barbie even took over your television in 2001 with Barbie and the Nutcracker. That movie taught us that everything you need is within you. The next movie Barbie as Rapunzel in 2002 was designed to teach us that love and imagination can change the world. The overall moral of Barbie itself is “you can be anything”

Barbie explores the importance of what kids say while they play. It was proven that when playing with dolls children use increased language about others’ thoughts and emotions. Kids adapt social skills while playing with the dolls

Over the past six decades, the iconic doll has changed hairstyles, and facial expressions, and held more than 200 jobs. 1959 was the first year that barbie is introduced it was taken to American Toy Fair in New York City.
