The Marion Center Varsity Football team went to playoffs this season! With their record being now 8 wins and 2 losses, the team has made 6th place in the district playoffs and will continue their season.
With 5 shutouts this season and 3 wins on top of that, the Marion Center boys football team found themselves going to in 6th place in the PIAA football playoffs.
The team has only lost to Cambria Heights (7-21) and River Valley (21-28). Cambria Heights has a record of 10-0 and River Valley has a record of 8-3. The team’s efforts have been great. With the extended season, the pride here in the schools is flourishing.
On Friday, November 1st, the team traveled to Mount Union High School, to compete against the Mount Union Trojans, in the first bracket of district playoffs. The game was intense. By the end of the first half, the score was 21-7. Touchdowns in the first quarter were made by, junior, Camden Rising, and two touchdowns from senior, Mason Ploskunak. The game ended in a double overtime, where MC gained a touchdown by sophomore, Tyler Phillips, then, 2 points from freshman Troy Slovinsky. Junior, Carter Knox finished the game with a fumble, forced by senior, Landon Cook. Marion Center took the win, with a final score of 35-27.
The Stingers will play seed number 2 in the district playoffs, Richland on their home turf, Friday, November 8th. There will be a pep bus attending for any student who wishes to go watch the game. Make sure you sign up in the office and deposit $10 to secure your spot on the bus. Let’s go Stinger Football!
