The Stingers just took another incredibly impressive win against Cambria Heights! Our boys won 29-22 in the quarter finals game over the Cambria Heights Highlanders in a District 6 Class 2A matchup on Halloween Night.
The Stingers erased an eight-point deficit in the final 2 minutes and 24 seconds of the game, scoring twice for this astonishing win. Senior Camden Rising (QB) threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, ran for one score, and achieved a career-high passer rating. Junior Alec Brudnock (WR) was the top receiver with 157 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Troy Slovinsky (DB) recorded two interceptions.
This win was monumental, pushing the stingers to a 10-1 rating and securing our spot in the semifinal game against Bishop Micourt at The Point in Johnstown on Friday, November 7! This also marks the first 10-1 record in Varsity Stinger Football History, a true demonstration of the team’s hard work, dedication, and unity on and off the field.
The energy from the fans, band, cheerleaders, and student section was eccentric and fueled the team to persevere until the very end. The stands erupted when the Stingers made their comeback with cheers echoing across the stadium.
As they prepare for their semifinal matchup, the Stingers not only carry their record with them, but the Stinger Spirit from the Marion Center community. The entire study body, faculty, and staff wish our boys luck as they travel on to the next round of playoffs to dominate the competition! Friday night’s fight for victory proved one thing for the Stingers and spectators alike: it’s not over until it’s over.
